Annual General Meeting

SAVE THE DATE!

Join the PSWIB Committee for our Annual General Meeting to reminisce about the year that was 2020, vote on the new Committee Positions and hear about our plans for 2021.

Download the Nominations Form here.

As a bonus, we have a special presentation from our President Fiona Brown of YOUtopia WELLbeing. Fiona is a highly experienced coach and facilitator who has run many successful workshops for women, particularly around the concepts of goal setting and manifesting.

The New Year is a perfect time to draw a line in your sand and prepare for what's on the other side. We can cross that line proactively and plan, prepare and be excited for what is ahead, or we can fly by the seat of our pants and hope that it all works out in the end. After all, it mostly does... right?

Let's get a little creative and set a crystal clear intention for what we want to be, do, have and feel for the year ahead. We will also talk action, fun, accountability and celebrating success. We will open a loop in January 2021 and check in by December to see how our intentions have become a reality!! The collective energy of a group raises the odds for a successful outcome for all when we set intentions together. Let's do this ladies!!

Venue: Wanderlust Bar at the Bay- 30 Donald St, Nelson Bay NSW 2315, Australia

Finger food provided, purchase your own drinks.

RSVP by Friday 22 January.

FREE for all attendees. Newcomers most welcome!

Women looking after women in the community

Guest speaker: Brooke Vitnell, Solicitor from David Vitnell Solicitors

The fastest growing cohort of homeless people in Australia today are women 65-74 years old. Within this group, homelessness increased by 51% in five years to 2016.

This data may be more confronting than many of us realise because for many older women, homelessness manifests itself in relatives’ guests’ rooms, spare bedrooms with friends or on a sofa - you might have a family member or friend who has been through or is currently going through this.

In this presentation you will learn about:

  • Escaping a domestic violence situation

  • Family law proceedings

  • Domestic violence – the rise during covid-19 and local support available

  • Practical steps for women leaving domestic violence relationships

  • Financial risk and women – the surprising cohort of homeless older women after leaving abusive relationships / or pursuing divorce later in life

  • Local statistics – domestic violence, homelessness in our region

  • The most vulnerable in our community – the rise of elder abuse - signs to look out for, practical steps and things that family and friends can do

Brooke has helped shape policies on domestic and family violence, child sexual abuse and the NDIS along with other policy areas and Federal Government experience: National Redress Scheme into Child Sexual Abuse, The National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and Their Children, Stop it at the Start Campaign.

She says: “We are a family owned and operated law firm with two locations - Nelson Bay and Medowie. I love achieving outcomes for my clients. There is nothing more rewarding than assisting people during what is most often one of the most stressful periods of their lives.”

Speed networking & fundraiser at Broughtons at the Bay

Bella Howard.JPG

Get to know your fellow Women in Business while raising money for a special local family.

During April, eight year old Bella was diagnosed with a highly aggressive brain tumour and was told she had just three months to live. Bella had another MRI at the end of August and her parents were heartbroken to be told that there was no medical aid that could prolong her life.

PSWIB would like to help Bella and her family to relieve any financial burden through this very difficult time. All the money raised will go towards helping the family in practical ways and providing Bella with new experiences to brighten her final days.

What is speed networking?

Speed networking is sort of like speed dating - but with more laughs! We are seated at a table having a chat to get to know each other for 2.5mins each. You don't have to talk about your business or where you work, you can talk about interests, your favourite travel destination - even your pet! The idea is to get to know each other and follow up with a longer conversation if you so choose. Once the bell rings, one side of the table will get up and move to the next person. It's that simple and a lot of fun! Supper will be included and drinks are available for purchase.

Please bring a raffle prize and $$ for raffle tickets and donations.

There is not a waking moment that goes by when we aren't communicating to another person or unconsciously communicating to our self. 5 easy peasy SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) tips to grow your business online

SEO Confused.png

Does your business shine online?

Do you appear in the top few search results?

Are you proud of how your business is represented online?

Is your website optimised and consumer friendly?

Search Engine Optimisation is a critical factor for online success. It's confusing and complicated so many business owners bury their head in the sand when it comes to SEO.

Does that sound like you?

The problem is that your competitors may be all over this. In fact, your lack of SEO efforts could be holding your business back. Reduced online visibility and leads will have a massive impact on sales or bookings.

I've achieved amazing results for my clients going from 0 visibility in search results to top 3 positions. As well as, significantly increasing online leads and conversions.

During this session I'll give the wonderful PSWIB group some ideas on what to do immediately to start improving results online. You don't need to be highly technical or from a marketing background to make the most out of this session. Just bring your enthusiasm and and open mind (an maybe a notepad).

Guest Speaker: Bec Smith from Gold Key Marketing

Rebecca is the Director of Gold Key Marketing, a consulting agency assisting small to medium businesses to navigate the complicated online marketing maze. Rebecca assists business owners to avoid making costly mistakes with their online marketing efforts while honing in on the most profitable opportunities to reach their business goals. She has expertise in B2C and B2B, strategic business planning, brand development, digital marketing, customer experience marketing, market research, budgeting, business development and staff management and development.
